Highlights of our nursing services:
The CTRC Bionutrition Core at TLI is a comprehensive resource supporting outpatient, overnight, and community-based studies. It features a metabolic kitchen for the preparation of nutrient-controlled and regular meals, along with an innovative Culinary Medicine training program, offering hands-on cooking and education in a pop-up teaching kitchen. The Core’s metabolic assessment room, equipped with DXA, indirect calorimetry, BIA, and anthropometric tools, provides integrated analysis of body composition, bone mineral density, and energy expenditure. The Core also offers advanced nutrition computing for nutrient analysis and the design of precise research diets as well as REDCap support for data tracking, and training in nutrition research for fellows and students.
We provide support and resources for studies on human research participants. We are located in a 5,500 sq. ft. ambulatory facility within The Liu Center. All protocols requesting the use of CTSI resources are independently reviewed for scientific merit, research participant safety, and valid justification for resource utilization by the UCLA-CTSI Scientific Advisory Committee at TLI, the Human Subjects Committee, or the Institution Animal Use and Care Committee as appropriate, and the Research Committee. All protocols must be approved at all three levels before the use of the UCLA-CTSI resources is possible.
